Pastor Jamey J. Johnson, M.A.
M.A. in Pastoral Ministry,
Founder & President, Life Coach of Purple Crayon Coaching
I grew up in Minneapolis, Minnesota, raised with two younger sisters by a hard working mother and father. At a young age, I had an affinity to help and listen to people who were hurting...maybe because I was a big brother to younger sisters.
I’m married to a beautiful women for 17 years. This relationship has taught me how to love God, others, and myself unconditionally to the best of my abilities. This relationship has also taught me to continually have the courage to take the journey from the inside-out...to commit myself to emotional healthy spirituality!
My mission in life is very simple...I desire to be a source of encourgement to people. My passion is to help people through there suffering, loneliness, failure, sorrow, and discouragment, to an emotionally healthy and spiritual place of healing, hope, self-acceptance, and grace. In the words of Brennan Manning, “to help people define themselves as one beloved by God.”
My journey through confusion and pain
My quest for healing started early in my own life. I grew up with an alcoholic father. My dad was a blue-collar, functioning alcoholic, who worked hard and owned his own construction business. My father had a great sense of humor, and had potential to be caring when he was sober, however, those attributes quickly changed into emotional, physical, and verbal abuse, when he used alcohol. For much of my childhood I lived in fear, and never really found the confidence and acceptance in myself. I was on drugs by the age of fourteen and was drinking heavily by eighteen. I was lost, hurting, and depressed, and on a search for purpose, healing, and acceptance.
Healing and my true calling
In February of 1992, I had a significant spiritual transformation that allowed me to take steps down the road to emotional healing and self-acceptance. It was a radical, authentic, spiritual experience in a small African-American-Pentecostal church (Trinity Tabernacle) on the north side of Minneapolis. On that one glorious Sunday morning, I had the privilage of experiencing what God’s love really meant! I finally found the love, healing, purpose, and acceptance i was searching for.
I was loved and mentored by so many of the caring grandmothers and compassionate men of that beloved community...it changed my life forever. I was also privilaged to develop sustainable disciplines, that helped me build a spiritual and emotional foundation, that continues to equip me for life today.
I found my true calling in that little church...I was now to help guide others, on their jounrey, to find true love, grace, forgiveness, acceptance, and healing.
I realized something within that beautiful community: there is real power in having positive role models to encourage you to find healing and forgiveness. Role models that empower and inspire you to have faith to reach beyond your limits and find your God-given potential.
My belief in the importance of living with purpose, grace, hope, and healing was later reinforced by my many years of experience as a pastor, as well as my own personal journey in the process of counseling and coaching.

"He taught and encouraged me to be a leader in my church, with my friends, and in the community. I learned by Jamey's example just how important it is to break down barriers and work towards reconciliation as it is a never ending process."
- Mandy Kline
Jamey Johnson helped develop the foundation of my marriage through his personal and biblical based teaching. He also helped me understand who God is and what Christ did for me on the cross. His teaching and mentoring still pour out of me, even when I am teaching now in my church, just how he did for me.
